How to make rose tea?

Rose tea is a type of floral tea in the processed tea category in China, made from fresh roses, and characterized by its sweet and rich floral aroma.

Method One:

  1. Pick fresh, tender rose buds as this can retain the nutritional value of the flowers, ensuring the best quality.
  2. After picking, spread the roses out appropriately, remove the buds from the stems and leaves, and rinse the rose petals with clean water.
  3. Spread the roses out on a ventilated tray or sieve and store them in a covered jar after they are completely dry. To retain the color, aroma, and taste of the roses, the drying process should be at a low temperature.

Method Two:

  1. Use mature, fully bloomed roses.
  2. Carefully remove the petals, discard the stem and leaves.
  3. Place the petals on a paper towel and microwave for 60 seconds.
  4. After a minute, there will be quite a lot of moisture on the petals, put them back in the microwave for another 60 seconds.
  5. Larger petals will need to go back into the microwave for an additional 30 seconds.
  6. Spread out the petals to air-dry for 24-48 hours.
  7. Store them in a covered jar until ready to use.

  3. Tea amount: Use a teaspoon to take 5-6 rose buds and place them in the teacup.
  4. Rinsing: It’s not suitable to rinse with too hot water, generally, it’s better to rinse with boiling water that has been left to cool for a while.
  5. Brewing: Pour boiling water at about 80 degrees over the roses until the tea cup is 80% full, cover with a lid and let it sit for 3-5 minutes. (You must pre-warm the teacup to prevent a rapid drop in temperature, this way the aroma of the tea can fully diffuse.)
