Velvet Nigrum: Your Guide to Vibrant Garden Pansies

The Velvet Nigrum, a common pansy, is a vibrant and versatile botanical species that thrives in flower beds, pots, or hanging baskets during spring and summer.

A variant of this flower, known as the “Black Velvet,” is a rare black pansy created by horticulturists using natural cultivation techniques. This unique black flower has been developed over four years without any genetic modification, only by cross-pollination.

At first glance, the Black Velvet pansy resembles the black bloom of the tricolor pansy, both of which have a velvety texture to their petals, making them perfect decorative additions to any flower bed.

I. Basic Introduction

Velvet Nigrum

The Velvet Nigrum, a horticultural marvel achieved through natural cultivation, is expected to be sold at a price of 2-3 pounds each. This rare black flower, after a four-year period of improvement cultivation, is set to grace many gardens across the UK in the coming year.

The common pansy, a widespread ornamental plant, grows in flower beds, pots, or hanging baskets during spring and summer.

Plant experts believe that this newly cultivated Black Velvet pansy will be widely appreciated, and when planted in flower beds, it will accentuate the colorful contrast among various plants.

Reportedly, the Black Velvet pansy is bred by the Paul Kolegrave Flower Cultivation Company and is slated for its first sale in the UK flower market. The plant’s promotional tagline is “Black accompanies everything.”

Plant experts, by cross-breeding existing flowers, have achieved this black coloration. Stuart Lowen from the Paul Kolegrave Flower Cultivation Company exclaimed, “This plant is truly unique! It’s the world’s first black pansy.”

We’ve achieved this coloration through traditional techniques and experimentation with existing flowers, without any genetic modification, solely through cross-pollination.
